High-minded Events in collaboration with Seed Talent brought out the cannabis industry for a night of appreciation, music, laughs, and of course, good weed. Budtenders, dispensary workers, and marketing reps alike arrived to a beautiful, decked out venue. Phil and his team pulled out all the stops to provide a night that had a little something for everyone. Were you at the Budtender’s Choice Awards? What was your favorite part of the night? Under the Neon Lights Guests were wowed as soon as they walk through the door. From the mood lighting to the upbeat music choices, it was definitely a party in the west loop. When it comes to throwing a sophisticated cannabis events, no one does it quite like High-minded Events. At almost every corner you could find one of their signature touches, starting with the layout. Set up through out the venue, some of the biggest names in cannabis came out to show up and show out for the Budtender’s across our state. With big names like Puffco showcasing their beloved devices, guests had a number of options on how they could consume. The Infused Goodies One thing that was not missing throughout the night was the infused goodies. From drinks to edibles there was a little something for everyone to indulge in. In fact, the Marga-weeda, infused with Tonic , who was a nominee for the night, was a particular hit. With almost every other person in attendance holding one in their hand. High-minded Events has truly set themselves apart for their signature mocktails, creating unique combinations for every season. Making your way to the center of the venue and you were greeted with a beautiful ice sculpture by Artet . Guests were treated to an icy waterfall, allowing them to drink the infused drink directly from the ice sculpture. This is just one of the many interactive stations that guests could enjoy. The brands in attendance really put their best foot forward to impress and wow the budtenders. Ediblez in particular, with their gummy skewers, provided a fun way for guests to interact and sample products. It’s this type of innovation that’s very much needed in this industry in Illinois. It was very exciting to see these type of installations. Announcing: The Winners Of course the highlight of the night came when the lights dimmed and some of Chicago’s industry favorites took the stage to present the awards. Starting with the lively Dom Brown who got everyone riled up and ready. The Winners in the Edibles Category Starting off the night, we announced the winners of the edibles categories. Starting with the winner of the best Chocolate edible which went to Nature’s Grace and Wellness . Next we had the best gummy edible which went to Kiva . Lastly, the winners of the category for best non-chocolate, non-gummy edible were Tonic, who also won the award for Best Beverage. The Winners of the Flower Category The most anticipated category was flower, and everyone is always very ready to give their feedback on the flower found at Illinois cannabis. Taking home the award for best Everyday Flower was Aeriz . When purchasing in bulk, budtenders chose High Supply as the winner of the Best Bulk Flower. Next up, Dogwalkers took home the award for Best Preroll which seemed to not be a surprise for those in attendance. Revolution proved to be a big winner of the night. Taking home not only the award for Best Top Shelf Flower, but also for best Overall Cannabis Brand. The Winners of the Concentrates Category When it comes to concentrates, Revolution also won big by taking home the award for Best Solvent Concentrate. In the Best Solventless Concentrate Category, Floracal was the winner and break out star. Vapes were also a popular category, and Cresco Labs were announced as the winners of the Best Vape category. The Blaze Award – Championing a New Standard of Social Responsibility Our most important award of the night was the Blaze Award. Awarded to companies doing the real hard work of putting together a brand that is socially responsible. Of course, Chicago’s own 93 Boyz took the award home. Their extensive work in Chicago’s cannabis community and their work cementing themselves not only in the cannabis industry, but also in fashion and music, made them the example for future winners. High-minded Events is coming in clutch with a few easy to do ideas! We have chosen 5 ways you can infuse your dinner, and will walk you through how to add an elevated touch. Most of these ideas are beginner friendly, so don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty! Please note that we will be using suggestions that incorporate products you can buy at your local dispensary. Many people often choose to infuse with canna-butter, but we have some fun out of the box ideas that make infusing an easy process. Infused Holiday Punch Infused holiday drinks are all the rage, and while you can easily purchase pre-infused drinks like Cann, we suggest infusing your favorite holiday punch. PTS Pure has an amazing drink called Tonic . At 100 mL you’ll easily be able to serve up 30 portions of a feel good holiday punch. Don’t want to infuse the whole bowl? It was on a cool and mild evening in Chicago that we were joined by members of some of Illinois biggest cannabis brands for a night of drinks, infused foods, and important discussions. From the old style bar to the white marble, it was an intimate affair. High-minded Events has really fine tuned what hosting cannabis events in Chicago looks like. The star of the night was undoubtedly the food! Guests enjoyed infused gourmet bites with approximately 5 mg of cannabis from ,Flame Princess Confections . Her bacon wrapped dates were absolutely delicious! Our guests also munched on delicate Squash crostinis that were addicting and delicate in the best ways. All the food was prepared in delicious bite sized portions. Infused Drinks for those Looking for Non Alcoholic Options As with any ,infused Dinner Party , the beverages were absolutely present! The Pumpkin High Latte was the perfect picker up. Sweet but not overpowering and reminiscent of everyone’s favorite pumpkin spiced drink. The Fall Sensation drink was an ode to our favorite holiday punches. Filled with the enchanting aromas of rosemary and orange. High-minded Events know that a good party has everything! Consuming Cannabis in a Greenery Laced Terrace We had a full service cannabis bar where our trained budtenders filled cones with our guests’ flower of choice. Flower from the sponsors was sampled on a beautiful terrace that was covered in greenery and smelled like green. It was a lovely area, setup and equipped with bar tables and ash trays. Matter. Products provided lighters so that no one would have to struggle with finding one. But of course, we could not write about the event without speaking about the cannabis consumed. Thank you to all the sponsors and those who provided their cannabis including Cresco Labs and Nuera Cannabis. Some of the favorite strains on hand were: Candied Lemons by Matter. A tangy strain that was perfect for the party, Candied lemons has a tangy taste followed by a sweet and pungent after taste. Apart from that, the high is almost immediate and uplifting. Even the smoke exhaled had a tangy smell that filled the terrace. I spoke to a few people in attendance, and noticed a large majority had opted for this strain. Definitely one of the best picks of the night. Orange Velvet Underground by NuEra By far one of my favorite concentrates in attendance, this strain was the perfect amount of sweet. It was subtle but fragrant, each pull was soft. Of course, many argue that the terps are gone from concentrates, but the flavor was pleasant and sweet. The best part was the immediate head and body high that flows through your body. Another great choice for the party! Lime Skunk by Cresco Labs Definitely the popular girl at the party, ,Lime Skunk was a fan favorite! I, myself, had it more than once because of how tasty it was. Definitely an uplifting, party pleasing strain. Lime Skunk is nowhere near as aggressive as its name implies. I would’ve loved to try this strain in its flower form! Although the cart provided was great for the social setting and provided a taste that wasn’t sour or pungent, something common with Lime Skunk. Bravo to Cresco on this strain. Zenco, the Party Accessory Everyone Needs We are very happy and proud of our Zenco and the experience it provides to our guests. Not only does it look cool, but trying out strains in it is easy and beginner friendly. The cup shaped reservoir is so elegant in its execution. High-minded budtenders filled the reservoir with smoke and handed it to the guest. Guests were then able to “drink” the smoke. We love Zenco for their mission on normalizing cannabis usage, and their accessories that are a popular addition to any party.
